As I’m just starting out in the blogging adventure, I thought that I might as well look at the beginning.  The Greek word ‘arche’ can be translated as beginning or ruler.

Since I just recently wrote a blog about the word ‘word’, John 1 is fresh in my mind.

John 1:1-2  In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning. (NIV)

Matthew 24:8  All these are the beginning of birth pains. (NIV)

Mark 1:1  The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (NIV)

Colossians 1:18  And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so that in everything he might have the supremacy. (NIV)

Titus 3:1  Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good. (NIV)  The KJV translates “to be subject to principalities and power.”

Romans 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NIV)

Jude 1:6  And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home–these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.  (NIV)  The NASB translates arche as domain in this verse.
