Psalm 119

Have you heard of an acrostic?  It’s when the first letter of each line in a poem (or writing) forms a word or phrase.  The Hebrew alphabet is not exactly a word, but…

In Psalm 119, the first letter in the first eight verses is aleph, the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet.  The first letter in the next eight verses is beth, which is the second letter in the Hebrew alphabet.  This pattern continues for the whole Psalm.
